Permanent installation in Sol’s headquarters, Helsinki, 1997
Andersson’s long lasting interest in the philosophy of the communicative aspects of a table, has resulted in a series of different table projects.
For the cleaning company Sol’s headquarters in Helsinki, Andersson designed a table with a surface made of Finnish hard rye bread. The pieces of bread have slowly been impregnated with a nontoxic resin to create a long lasting surface.
The motive is fields of rye crossed by a blue river and primary shaped sandy areas. The shapes of the benches are inspired by the wooden sticks inside ice cream popsicles.
Over the table clouds, shaped like a sun, an aeroplane and a heart made of aluminium and with inserted lights, flood the table with light for the office workers to have their lunch and coffee breaks.
