The Last Boat

Performance on the last day( the first of June 2003) of Andersson’s Paradise exhibition at Sculptor Gallery, Helsinki

The surface of the boat is made of sheets of edible paper with pictures printed on them with food colors. The pictures are all from nature except from two, which have the hands of Jan-Erik’s 93 years old grand mother Elna Jansson printed on them. Computer controlled lights inside the boat slowly light up and dim away in the rhythm of breathing.

On the last day of the exhibition the boat was offered to the public to be eaten. They could cut pieces of the boat’s surface with a razor blade and eat it together with a small glass of red wine. In this way Andersson wanted to share his love for his grand mother with the public.
