To Keep the Balance on the Alps

Sculptures and reliefs installed to form a whole. The starting point for the exhibition was Anderssons visit to the Swiss Alps where he heard stories about children dying when rolling down the slopes forming big snowballs. He was advised to hold his own three years old daughter tight in her hand when walking.
The works deal with the fear of loosing ones child, the difficulty of keeping a long relationship, the balance between freedom and responsibility to the family. But the works also comment on the art tradition; the painting as a window, the madonna sculptures etc. Two of the works are made in collaboration with Andersson’s daughter Li. She painted the Rucksack man’s rucksack and the house on the Axman’s leg.

Om att hålla balansen i alperna

Jag tillbringade julen högt uppe i de schweiziska alperna. Mina vänner lyckades lura ut mej på skidor. Snön och skidspåren suddades ut till ett töcken. Djupt nere i dalarna skymtade bebyggelsen och mörka trädmattor.

Plötsligt blev jag våldsamt sjösjuk och föll omkull i den värmande snön i närheten av ett instucket träkors.

Jag såg min dotter Li störta nedför branten i en snöboll, som blev större och större. Fram sprang Mickey Mus jagad av julgranstjuvarna. Jag tror de lyckades fånga honom.

Vid fyratiden på natten då spriten brukar lämna kroppen, kände jag ett stick i trakten av levern. Det var skuggmannen, som ränt en kniv i mej. Efter en kort kamp lyckades jag utmanövrera honom. I nästa ögonblick fann jag mej i famnen på en svartbränd trämadonna. Allt var över och jag kände mej trygg.

Efter ett kort hypnotiskt fall satt jag med Li i min atelje. Hon målade några målningar åt mej och vi diskuterade Yxmannen, Ryggsäcksmannen, hur svårt det är att hålla balansen och vad solen skulle säga…
